You make the difference
The research group of Jan Dörr at the ECRC, Charité and Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, is seeking a postdoctoral research associate in molecular cancer biology. Our laboratory investigates causes and consequences of tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance in pediatric cancers (e.g., Bei Y et al, bioRvix, 2022, doi: doi.org/10.1101/2022.09.08.506647, Schleich K et al, Nat. Commun, 2020 and Dörr J et al, Nature, 2013). We are an interdisciplinary and international team of enthusiastic scientists and doctors. We have generous access to state-of-the-art equipment by the facilities of the Charité and the MDC with multiple opportunities for translational pediatric cancer research. The working language is English.

Die Stelle im Überblick
An ideal candidate is a recent PhD or postdoctoral research scientist with experience in cancer biology, biochemistry, or molecular oncology, who wants to dissect fundamental questions in tumor heterogeneity and therapy resistance of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Candidates with strong experience in tumor biology, functional proteomics, and signal transduction are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will develop research projects in close cooperation with other research groups of the collaborative research center CRC1588:Decoding and Targeting Mechanisms of Neuroblastoma Evolution (https://www.bsio-cancerschool.de/crc1588), which is funded by the German Research Foundation. She/He will define the impact of genetic and phenotypic tumor heterogeneity on therapy resistance in neuroblastoma cell lines, patient-derived xenografts (PDX) and patient samples before and after treatment with cytotoxic or targeted therapies with the goal to identify and test new therapeutic vulnarabilities.
He/She will conduct cutting-edge research in a protected, interactive, highly collaborative, and well-funded environment, with access to shared facilities for sequencing, bioinformatics, imaging, metabolomics, flow cytometry, molecular pathology, and mouse genome engineering. In addition to interdisciplinary collaborations with research groups of the CRC, especially the Mertins group (Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine), international collaborations (Hondele group, Biozentrum Basel, Switzerland) will be available.
The position is initially limited for the duration of the first CRC funding period. It can be extended for two additional periods of four years each based on successful evaluation at the end of the funding periods. Join our interdisciplinary team and make an important contribution to childhood cancer research in Germany and worldwide.
Research associates will receive sufficient time for their own scientific work in accordance with their employment contract (§110 BerlHG).
