Dimensions, part of the Digital Science family, is the world's largest linked research information dataset, covering millions of research publications and connected by more than 1.3 billion citations. We are shaping the future of research and are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join the team.
Your new role As part of the global and technically skilled team, you will play a key role in the delivery of research analytics solutions through the design, development, and implementation of interactive dashboard applications to allow our customers to engage with data and analysing results to support their decision-making processes.
Your role will touch all aspects of data analysis & delivery, from the design of analysis, data collection/wrangling, visualization, and the development & delivery of interactive dashboards. You’ll be working with the latest analytics and visualization technologies in order to leverage the power of the Dimensions data platform.
Working closely with other team members, including customer-facing Dimensions specialists, you will deliver great services and solutions through building data sets to convey insights on the research landscape to our customers which include all types of R&D organizations (university, pharma, publisher).
- Developing dashboard applications using our data analytics & visualization platform based on Google BigQuery and Looker, working in close collaboration with end-users and stakeholders to define and prototype the end results
- Developing reusable data models and SQL-based data solutions, implementing changes to meet the business need, as well as performing maintenance and BAU tasks such as creating technical design documentation and granting users access to our tools.
- Contributing to defining and maintaining our data analytics & visualization platform roadmap and strategy, and policies and procedures.
- Support the growth of the team, by keeping abreast of market and industry trends and sharing knowledge and experience with them.
- Strong aptitude with visual analytics and dashboard development. Knowledge of Looker and LookML is a plus.
- Experience with data extraction and modelling using SQL, Python or other programming languages
- Skilled at shaping needs into a solid set of requirements and designing scalable solutions to meet them.
- Experience in the world of research and understanding of how researchers work. Familiary with scientometrics techniques a plus.
- Have experience of consulting with stakeholders to understand their needs, propose meaningful insights, and deliver in time, scope and quality.
- Have the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages, prioritize and signal challenges early on.
- You will thrive in an environment where you can work independently and remotely and can take ownership of project deliverables
- You will have previous experience of working globally and across multiple teams
