The position carries overall responsibility for the end-to-end (i.e. from design till regulatory approvals) execution on-schedule, within budget of the Unterschleissheim investments program, totalizing more than $500m across the LRCP (Long Range Capital Plan), and including the MUSE project, the IID fast track project and all existing facility remediation projects.
Key job responsibilities:
Program Oversight:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of capital projects within the program, from inception to completion
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategic vision
- Manage program and projects budgets, including cost estimates, funding allocations, and financial reporting
- Monitor program and projects progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- A preliminary list of projects rolling into the overall E2E oversight is as follows:
- One major engineering project (budget >$400m)
- One Fast track project
- Several Existing site remediation projects
- 24 products tech transfer with associated analytical methods and process improvements
- Transfer of 4 existing packaging lines, with technical upgrades, from existing facility, into the new facility
- Implementation of all digital platforms required to run manufacturing in the new facility
- Readiness for all health authorities’ inspections considering the site will supply product worldwide
- Readiness for production of PPQ and commercial batches,
- Implementation of all continuous improvement standards
Through detailed planning work, the incumbent will likely identify further projects to timely carry out in order to support the timely investments program execution.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage program and projects budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability
- Collaborate with finance teams to allocate funds appropriately
- Track expenses, analyze cost data, and make informed decisions to optimize resource utilization
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Work closely with key stakeholders, including local site team, corporate engineering and quality teams, procurement, regulatory, health and safety, and contractors
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among program and projects teams
- Ensure timely approvals, permits, and regulatory compliance
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans
- Mitigate program and projects-related challenges to minimize disruptions
- Monitor program and projects performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed
Quality Assurance:
- Uphold quality standards throughout program and projects execution
- Ensure adherence to design specifications, safety protocols, and industry best practices
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks
Timely Delivery:
- Maintain program and project schedules and deadlines
- Coordinate activities to prevent delays
- Address any bottlenecks promptly
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular progress reports for senior management
- Document program and projects milestones, decisions, and lessons learned
- Maintain accurate records for audits and future reference
Team Management:
- Build and manage a high-performing manufacturing team, including recruiting, training, and developing personnel
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement within the manufacturing department
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement strategies to address performance gaps
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing practices, and innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology, and evaluate their potential application to improve operations
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement process improvements or introduce new manufacturing technologies
