Customer Operations Intern (f/m/d)
Ocean freight is the number one choice for global logistics. Our clients at xChange currently need to send a lot of e-mails, WhatsApp messages, and phone calls to get quotes and schedules for their ocean freight. Moreover, there is a lack of transparency in the market due to several cost components at different shipping lines. Our Ocean Freight platform sheds light on this area and simplifies the processes around booking ocean freight.
As our Operations Intern, you are both building the backbone of the booking platform on xChange with smart sailing schedules and rate management decisions with our suppliers. Furthermore, you are developing ways to onboard and convince new customers to use the Ocean Freight platform as their number-one booking tool for SOC or COC Ocean Freight. After convincing our customers, you will oversee their ongoing shipments and help when necessary to find solutions for problems to make them ultimately successful.
Requirements
Your responsibilities in a nutshell
- You act as the first point of contact for any questions related to ongoing shipments and as a supporter for the operations teams of participating suppliers.
- You will build relationships with our customers; troubleshoot where necessary and find ways to solve their problems.
- Proactively stay in touch with suppliers to increase the number and quality of their offers on the platform
- You perform manual outreaches to customers on their preferred communication platform (e.g., e-mail, phone, WhatsApp, WeChat) to understand their requirements and find them good offers to book.
- Facilitate bookings by collecting requirements and finding the right suppliers.
- Convince customers that they have advantages if they use the platform and accompany their onboarding process
What we’re looking for
- Your ideal background includes first experience in a customer-facing role
- You have excellent communication skills – you enjoy day-to-day customer communication and are not afraid to pick up the phone
- With your can-do attitude, you are proactive, persistent, and diligent in all your tasks – you have a strong desire to take ownership of your tasks and get things done
- You have an output-oriented problem-solving personality – you are passionate about our mission and want to disrupt an entire industry with us
- Fluency in English – any other language (e.g. Chinese or Hindi) would be super nice but is no must-have
- You have good knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google sheets
- Knowledge and familiarity with important terms from the shipping industry and ocean freight logistics market from previous work experience or studies is a bonus
