The Helmholtz-Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik is looking to fill the following position as soon as possible,
initially on a fixed-term contract for two years with the option of extension subject to the availability of funding:
Post-doctoral researcher in the ALICE experiment (full time)
The group of Prof. B. Ketzer is active in the field of experimental high-energy hadron physics and related detector
development. The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the operation and calibration of
the upgraded ALICE Time Projection Chamber with GEM technology, and to the analysis of data from Run-3 with
a focus on studying charmonium-like and exotic states in ALICE. In addition, contributions to the R&D for ALICE-
3 are envisaged.
Your tasks: Contribute significantly to the operation and calibration of the ALICE TPC,
Lead a physics analysis project related to the production of heavy-quark mesons or
meson-like states in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC,
Possibility to contribute to the R&D for the ALICE-3 detector,
Actively participate in the data taking of the experiment and in the relevant meet-
ings,
Supervise students and engage in teaching.
Your profile: University degree (master´s or equivalent) and PhD degree in experimental nu-
clear or particle physics,
Experience with large-scale particle detectors,
Experience in data analysis,
Motivation and ability to cooperate and to work in a team,
Fluency in German and/or English, with the intent to acquire missing knowledge in
one of these languages.
