Researcher (f/m/diverse) - Position No. 2023-A01-03
Part time 70% up to 27,3 hours/week but increase to 100% possible, depending on the availability of funds.
German public sector tariff, up to EG14 TVöD Bund according to qualifications
40.000 – 57.000 Euro gross
The position is to be filled as of 01 August 2023 and is limited to 31 December 2024.
The selected researcher will join our United Nations research project which examines political and institutional factors connected to the roles, possibilities and limits of the United Nations development system. We are looking for someone who can perform effectively at the intersection of research and policy advice, which requires experience with empirical research on the institutional and political aspects of UN development work, ability to generate reform recommendations and to engage in policy advice with national and international policy-makers. Being a good team player is also essential.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Masters degree, preferably PhD with excellent grades in political science, sociology or related fields;
- Excellent knowledge of the UN development system, its functions, governance and funding;
- Familiarity with broader debates around global governance, international organizations, and sustainable development;
- Excellent writing skills and a publication record commensurate with career progress;
- Research or work experience in developing countries and/or international organizations is an asset;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Fluent written and spoken English and German;
- willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).
