Failure Analysis Engineer, Drive Inverter (m/w/d) – Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in Grünheide (Mark) bei Tesla
What to Expect
Tesla’s Drive Inverter Team is seeking an enthusiastic, fast-learning engineer who will be responsible for electrical and physical FA of power devices from traction inverters. A successful candidate will need to be experienced with power electronics, optical inspection, CSAM, electrical test equipment (e.g. power supplies, I-V curve tracers, digital multimeters, and oscilloscopes), and sample preparation (e.g. cross-sectioning and polishing). They will obtain and develop expertise in power device physics, common electrical and thermal failure mechanisms for MOSFETs and IGBTs, and complex materials and manufacturing processes. They will work alongside a team of experienced engineers while utilizing sophisticated failure analysis tools to identify root causes from design, production, test, and field environments. As an industry leading company, Tesla offers the opportunity to work on industry leading products and bleeding edge technology in a fast paced, dynamic, and high visibility role. What You’ll Do
- Hands-on failure analysis of high voltage power devices.
- Optical microscopy and CSAM.
- Electrical and physical FA including curve tracing and cross-sectioning.
- Maintenance of lab tools and consumables.
What You’ll Bring
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Equivalent.
- 2+ years of hands-on FA engineering experience in the field of power electronics.
- Experienced with optical inspection, CSAM, electrical test equipment, and sample preparation.
Additional Preferred Skills
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Equivalent.
- 4+ years of hands-on FA engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of semiconductors and power device packaging.
