The Institute of Numerical Simulation is looking to fill the following position as soon as possible
research assistant (PostDoc, 100%)
in the field of mathematics (numerical analysis)
for a period of two years.
The research group of Prof. Dr. Barbara Verfürth is interested in the design, numerical analysis and implementa-
tion of numerical methods. A particular focus of the position is the numerical homogenization for temporal met-
amaterials within the project „Homogenization of time-varying metamaterials“ of the collaborative research cen-
ter (CRC) 1173 „Wave phenomena“ (https://www.waves.kit.edu).
Your tasks: • Participation in CRC 1173 „Wave phenomena“, especially collaboration with project
partners from physics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
- Research within the project „Homogenization of time-varying metamaterials“
- Further development of your own research profile
Your profile: • Completed doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related subject
- Strong background in numerical methods for partial differential equations and nu-
merical analysis
- Structured, independent, solution-oriented work ethics with high quality standards
- Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and international team
- Programming knowledge in Matlab, python, C++ or comparable
