Ambu A/S is currently looking for an R&D engineer with experience in simulation and testing to support our product development projects. You will be a part of the engineering team within Global R&D where your primary focus will be to develop computational models, testing and data collection to support the development of our future medical devices.
At our Innovation centres in Ballerup (Denmark), Augsburg (Germany) and Penang (Malaysia) we develop our new medical devices, we have a great culture and a clear focus on bringing products to the market that is based on a thorough understanding of the customer's needs. We focus on developing new products and production processes that combine several technologies in new and innovative ways. This sets high demands to your engineering skills, both developing computational models and building advanced experimental testing setups.
About the Department
The engineering team consists of strong competence leads in design, simulation, prototyping and manufacturing and is based across our Innovation sites in Ballerup, Ausburg and Penang. We are heavily involved on mechanical design and development (concept design, prototyping, testing etc.) from early stages to production transfer. There is a lot of interaction with other departments like test & verification, system engineering, clinical, QA/RA. We take pride in being a global interdisciplinary team, with different cultures, close, trusting relations, and one common goal: improving patient care.
Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Develop computational models in the field of medical devices and in silico testing
- Perform experimental tests on medical devices components to calibrate and validate computational simulations
- Design and prototyping of customized tools for advanced data collection
- Support R&D projects with computational modeling and simulation
- Preprocesing, running and postprocessing computational models
- Collaborate with technicians, clinicians, and engineers to develop new technical solutions
- Engage with external research partners on applications of new technologies in company products such as digital twins, robotics, and AI
Suggested candidate profile
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:
- have background in engineering, physics, mathematics, computational science, or similar competencies
- have experience with finite element analysis. Experience in simulation of plastic components is a plus
- are hands-on person and like the lab environment: testing, measuring, and prototyping.
- are interested in medical devices and the used of simulation to improve product performance
- are a team player and like to collaborate with interdisciplinary groups in challenging task
- have an innovative mindset and like to work in early stages of product design
- feel comfortable in international environments and are fluent in English
- pay attention to detail and take ownership of you work
- are familiar or willing to learn about sensors and microcontrollers like Arduino or similar
