The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.de) currently operates 76 institutes and research facilities in Germany and is the world's leading organization for application-oriented research. Around 30,000 employees work on the annual research volume of 2.9 billion euros.
Adaptivity is an indispensable property for the networked world of tomorrow. Intelligent components can detect and evaluate changes in the environment or in the system itself and adapt to them independently. As a partner of industry, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS develops key technologies for adaptive systems with approximately 110 employees and offers innovative and robust solutions.
Electronic Systems and integrated circuits are the heart of these adaptive Systems. To support their design activities, we develop models and methods. With aging models and Design for Reliability methods, we enable virtual reliability assessments before ICs are transferred into manufacturing. Thus, reliability issues can be efficiently identified and solved, reliable products can be created, and manufacturing resources can be spared – and this is our contribution to an increased sustainability in microelectronics and its applications.
In this field of research, we are looking for you with your interest in interdisciplinary research towards next-generation microelectronics based on leading-edge semiconductor technologies.
What you do with us
- You will work at the interface between our reliability experiments on transistors and the IC design activities of our internal and external partners.
- You will develop promising models for the long-term behavior of integrated transistors and other semiconductor devices and make them available to IC designers in various simulation tools.
- In close cooperation with IC designers, you work on advanced Design for Reliability methods.
- You support in aligning our research activities with global trends and innovative applications.
- You present your research results to colleagues as well as at leading national and international conferences.
- You contribute to the external appearance of our institute by attending fairs as well as visiting partners and customers.
- You mentor students during their internships and final theses.
- A doctorate is possible as part of your scientific work.
What you bring with you
- University degree in electrical engineering, computer sciences, or a related field, preferably with a focus in microelectronics and circuit design
- In-depth knowledge of transistor modeling or the usage of design tools for integrated circuits
- Basic knowledge of the process of IC design projects
- Proactivity, sense of responsibility, distinct skills in communication, and an independent and careful approach to work
- Advanced skills in written and spoken English language; basic German language skills are an advantage
- As well as curiosity about scientific research, especially about interdisciplinary topics
What you can expect
- Flexible working hours and a varied range of tasks
- An open and cooperative working environment in a modern new building
- Challenging and varied tasks
- Independent development in cooperation with customers from industry
- Presentation of own research results at national and international scientific conferences
- An attractive training program and visits to trade fairs
