We are looking for a Climate Protection Program Manager who wants to shape the future of DB Schenker and our ambition to be leading in sustainable logistics.
As Climate Protection Program Manager you are working in an international team of global sustainability and logistics experts to ensure the implementation of the carbon reduction goals of DB Schenker on a global scale.
In your position you oversee and report the company’s internal and external (Scope 1-3) GHG emission sources according to DB Schenker’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality until 2040 and the near-term SBTi targets until 2030.
Your Tasks:
The position includes the supervision and monitoring of the company’s carbon budgets and report carbon reduction developments to internal and external stakeholders in a formalized and consistent way.
You are responsible to support the modal business units in their strategies towards reaching their carbon reduction targets and calculating the impact of related decarbonization measures.
You drive the required knowledge and database developments together with a carbon accounting expert team and provide in-depth knowledge to the organization.
To be successful in the above role, the applicant should possess/ display the following key skills/ attributes:
Bachelor’s or Masters’s or degree in climate-related/ environmental science or logistics, preferably with a strong operational background in freight forwarding - Minimum 3 years of experience in carbon accounting, preferably in the transport industry
- Knowledge of carbon accounting standards such as EN 16258, GLEC Framework v.2 (Smart Freight Centre) and upcoming ISO developments (ISO 14068, 14083, 14091/92) and carbon reporting frameworks (SBTi, CDP, ECOVADIS, ESRS)
- Enthusiastic about climate protection challenges and motivated to drive change in the organization with a high level of engagement
- In-depth knowledge in:
- Sustainability in logistics and supply chain design
- Carbon emission targets and mechanisms
- Strong communication and training skills
- Able to manage the needs of various internal and external stakeholders and external industry collaborations
- Science- and data-driven mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative
- Excellent level of interpersonal skills to work effectively and with multicultural sensibility with others and achieve results
- Ability to work self-driven, to prioritize tasks as per needs according to targets and deadlines and leadership expectation
- Develop presentations, workshops and events for climate target related subjects and measures
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and German
- Willingness to travel when necessary
- High affinity to IT systems/ processes and data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
