The local QC department consists of about 90 colleagues. Together with a sister department situated in Denmark, we form an important part of our quality organization. As part of our team, you will operate a Biosafety Level 3 (non-air-transmittable diseases, i.e. BSL3**) animal facility and release in vivo tested vaccine products. In this function, you will report to one of our scientists or our Manager QC in vivo.
Our vaccines make a real difference to people, and no matter your role we all contribute to protecting lives every day. This is how your work matters:
- Ensure provision of animal with food, water, clean cages, etc.
- Support operational readiness of the technical equipment and parameters of the animal facility, e.g. monitor heating and humidity, identify malfunctions in HVAC or IVC systems, coordinate with craftsmen in case repairs are needed.
- Ensure supply of the animal facility with autoclaved equipment and cages, ensure routine cleaning and disinfection appropriate for BSL3** environments.
- Together with lab technicians, participate on QC batch release testing of life-saving vaccines in a BSL3** animal facility (mice). This includes i.p., s.c. and i.c. injections (after appropriate on-the-job training).
- Be part of our in vivo team of approx. 16 employees (scientists, technicians, and animal caretakers) within the QC department.
- Support the transfer of new methods from an external partner and implementation into routine testing.
- Support maintaining the GMP quality standard.
- Support inspections and audits.
Succeeding with our vision of becoming one of the largest pure play vaccine companies in the world is no walk in the park, and that is why we need people like you who are determined to make it happen and have the following qualifications:
- Animal caretaker / animal care technician (e.g. Tierpfleger, Tiermedizinischer Fachangestellter) or academic education in bio/life science or veterinary medicine (e.g. Bachelor of animal care).
- A talent for dealing with technical challenges of keeping an animal facility running. Access of the BSL3** facility is complicated for external craftsmen, therefore minor repair or maintenance we prefer to do ourselves if possible.
- Animal facility work experience, preferably in biotech/pharma or related industry/organization, preferably in mice.
- Ability to follow SOPs, preferably experience with GLP/ GMP - quality standards.
- Good written and spoken command of English language, which is the primary language within the team. Additional skill in German is preferred but not a must.
- Flexible and proactive working style as well as enjoying being part of a team-oriented company culture.
