The Coordinator of Student Services works directly with the Program Manager, Student Life at NYU Berlin to provide a wide range of services in the areas of student programming, including community projects, communications, student conduct, registration with the German authorities, residential life services, safety and wellness, etc. Moreover, the Coordinator of Student Services trains and supervises NYU Berlin's team of up to three Resident Assistants, ensuring their integration into the larger team and the seamless provision of student services across NYU Berlin's different locations.
Principal Accountabilities
Student Services (35%):
- Provide administrative support to the Program Manager, Student Life, including creating and managing protocols, statistical information, and scheduling; coordinating student programming and advising services; developing communication strategies; and providing incident response and documentation.
- Advise the Student Life Administrator to ensure an accurate and timely processing of local police registration, local university enrollment and visa applications for incoming NYU Berlin students.
- Advise and support students who seek out external services, such as doctors' appointments or insurance coverage.
- Document student conduct cases and provide conflict resolution opportunities to students. Serve as Liaison with main campus offices to facilitate processes and problem resolutions.
- Coordinate student organizations, including volunteering initiatives.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager, Student Life and the Site Director.
Supervision of Resident Assistants (20%):
- In collaboration with the Program Manager, Student Life, train and supervise up to three Resident Assistants.
- Serve as primary contact person for the Resident Assistants in the day-to-day tasks and collaborate with the Operations team regarding all facility related questions and housing matters.
- Ensure the effective integration of the Resident Assistants within the Student Life team.
- Coordinate and supervise Resident Assistant programming offered at all NYU Berlin housing locations.
Coordination of Extracurricular Learning Programs (15%)
- Collaborate with the Academics team in co-designing and coordinating immersive student programming, including on-campus workshops and seminars, excursions in the city, as well as trips to surrounding areas.
- Accompany students on 1-3 day trips a semester.
Student Safety & Wellness (20%)
- Regularly participate in the on-duty/on-call rotational emergency response and be available to respond to crises during scheduled evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Establish and coordinate NYU Berlin's emergency response schedule.
- Deliver regular staff trainings on emergency response.
- Produce manuals covering safety-related information and general travel advisories.
- Know University/community resources and make appropriate referrals.
- Participate in Wellness training seminars and diversity workshops.
Communication (10%)
- Ensure effective communication to students on all matters related to student services. Produce material for the weekly Student Newsletter and social media accounts.
- Regularly update the NYU Berlin information website.
- Prepare memos and material for other publications.
Qualifications:
Required Education
- Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree.
Required Experience
- Experience in producing and editing texts in English (such as handbooks, newsletters, etc.).
- A minimum of four years prior work experience.
