The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Incumbent is responsible for evaluating and responding to written inquiries on a wide variety of consular issues from the public, congress, and correspondence for the Consul General’s signature. Answers inquiries related to the 56,000 annual immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications, 30% of which involve some 160 non-German nationalities, and over 20,000 American Citizen Services cases that Frankfurt processes annually. Provides clerical and correspondence support at a post with a heavy demand for correspondence. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring Consular Mission Frankfurt has an effective and efficient student/exchange visitor visa outreach program and is the POC for about 80 State Department authorized cultural exchange organizations within all of Mission Germany and POC for international offices at universities in the Frankfurt consular district. CIU facilitates the processing of emergency, humanitarian and sensitive nonimmigrant visa cases, and cases received under the visa referral system. These types of cases require tact, accuracy, and speed in their resolution
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience, in which the application of complex regulatory material is required, in a customer focused environment. Two (2) years of experience in drafting correspondence on a subject matter comparable in complexity to U.S. visa law, in English and German for a lay audience is required.
Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling (Mittlere Reife) and received high school diploma is required.
