Job Description
Bose Corporation is a leading innovator in the field of automotive entertainment systems and in-cabin active noise cancellation and enhancement. For over 10 years, Bose has brought solutions to market that cancel and enhance narrowband engine harmonics. Recently Bose announced Quiet Comfort™ Road Noise Control for wideband cancellation of structure-borne road noise. The trend toward EVs has increased the demand for creative acoustic cancellation features to road noise and new noise sources (thermal management systems and electric drive motors). It's an exciting time for the automotive sound management industry! Car makers are embracing electronic solutions to eliminate heavy and costly passive countermeasures.
The Active Sound Management (ASM) Applied Research organization is seeking a senior engineer to create and mature active solutions to address automotive cabin noise (powertrain/drivetrain/road noise/wind noise). As an applied research group, the ASM team collaboratively assesses potential technologies, explores technical feasibility by creating core algorithms as well as explores production viability by refining and augmenting algorithms into production-ready features complete with fault detection and response.
Bose seeks an expert algorithm developer who is passionate about innovation and bringing practical solutions to wow our customers. Specific duties include:
- Brainstorming and evaluation of new narrowband/wideband feedforward/feedback algorithms to address unmet needs in collaboration with the larger research team
- Research, development and ongoing support of new core algorithms to meet performance requirements and fault detection to meet robustness requirements
- In-vehicle testing and evaluation using rapid prototyping environment
- Development of unit tests
- Support of legacy noise cancellation algorithms
- New business acquisition, primarily through the development of MATLAB-based tuning tools to support concept vehicle builds by customer-facing teams and the training of those teams. These activities require a willingness to embrace a fast-paced and at times demanding work schedule.
- Software and tools handoff to downstream production teams
- Hybrid position (partial remote work with primary focus in-office)
- Up to 25% international and domestic travel to support customer-facing teams, working effectively in a variety of cultures is a must.
- Initial training in U.S. (Framingham, MA), 2 visits each 90 days
MS degree in Electrical or Acoustical Engineering with minimum 3 years related work experience or alternatively a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Acoustics. A multi-functional technical background with proven proficiency in algorithm development along with one or more of the following areas is required: MIMO control system design, MIMO noise cancellation, signal processing, adaptive filtering. Proficiency with common engineering tools including MATLAB, Simulink, and general scientific programming are required. A working understanding of physical acoustics, sensor technologies, automotive NVH is desirable.
Join our team , make a difference and shape the future sound in vehicles!
