Who are we and how do we work?

As a state-accredited private school run by the Würth Foundation, Freie Schule Anne-
Sophie in Berlin, Germany offers a continuous educational path from elementary school to
the German Abitur. Classes are held all day and are bilingual in German and English right
from the start. At Freie Schule Anne-Sophie Berlin, English speaking and German speaking
teachers and educators work together to create a bilingual culture in the school. Our
international learning community includes German families as well as many international
families who have chosen Berlin as their new home.

In addition to bilingualism, the pedagogical concept is characterized by goal-oriented
learning in a designed environment and the introduction to independent learning with
new media. In each learning group, teaching, learning, and social development become
a collaborative process. Personal support of the students through coaching sessions is an
essential element of the learning culture. The goal is that every child leaves the Freie Schule
Anne-Sophie Berlin as a winner. A winner in this context is someone who knows their
strengths, learns to work with their weaknesses, accepts challenges, and takes
responsibility for themselves and others.

What are the responsibilities?

§ Work in grade level and subject teaching teams to develop unit and lesson plans
according to the school’s internal curriculum.

§ Develop creative, engaging, and differentiated learning opportunities for multi-
lingual and multi-cultural students.

§ Accommodate instruction methodology for English language learners and
special education students.

§ Use various assessment methods to evaluate and track student progress,
communicating this progress to parents in conferences and reports.

§ Create a positive, structured, and safe learning environment for students.

§ Work in professional learning communities to improve teaching and learning.

§ Develop positive parent-teacher relationships and promote parent-teacher
partnerships.

§ Monitor student activities on school premises and ensure every student's safety in
the classroom and on school grounds.

§ Attend educational training and workshops for professional growth.

What qualifications are we looking for?

§ a teaching degree from a university or college of education, a Master’s degree in

education is preferred but not required,
§ good knowledge of current education and research-based methodologies, such as

the science of reading and working with multi-lingual students,
§ experience working in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural school environment,
§ strong collaborative skills to work in teaching teams,
§ strong interpersonal and communication skills,
§ a patient, resourceful and resilient personality,
§ some knowledge of the German language is preferred but not required.
