The US Gas and Power Desk has the scope to trade markets from the East Coast to the West. As a purely proprietary asset-free financial participant, we are able to carefully select which regions to trade based on opportunity and confidence. As we continue to build out our fundamental and quantitative modelling to support our position taking, we are looking to recruit a highly numerate analyst to support us The main focus of this role will be to both further develop existing and contribute new analysis tools. You will be embedded in the trading team meaning you will have constant close interaction with the traders and be able to observe the implementation of your position ideas throughout the life cycle of a trade.
Your tasks will include:
- Initiate research, analyse and track developments in all fundamental drivers for regional US markets
- Develop accurate, stable, automated and often data intensive analysis tools to transform fundamentals into market relevant signals
- Follow relevant news, regulator and market design proposals, assessing their impact on respective US commodity prices and communicating effectively to the traders
- Work together with external data providers and internal interfaces to ensure efficient processing and maximum value from subscribed or freely published market information
- Conduct statistical and quantitative analysis on large data sets, exploring alternative trading strategies and challenging fundamental analysis derived market signals
- Actively participate in the RWE Supply & Trading GmbH Analyst Community and assist in the communication of the desk fundamental view to other teams and the broader RWE group as needed
Your powerful skills
- University Degree in a numerical and analytical field such as Maths, Finance, Engineering or similar
- Very strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to transfer knowledge between analysis and trading with an interdisciplinary approach and communicate effectively ideas and findings
- Experience in an energy trading environment
- Strong Python programming skills with a proven track record of python usage in a professional context
- Flexible and highly motivated team player, ability to work in a trading environment and to meet tight deadlines while structuring tasks for yourself
- Fluent in English
Advantageous, but not a must
- Experience with Tableau and SQL knowledge
