About the Role: We are looking for a Laminate Development Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Fabrics R&D Team in Feldkirchen-Westerham who will support and drive the development of sustainability driven laminates. In this role you will contribute to our future technologies and capabilities by applying your expertise in a creative and effective way to a broad range of complex issues.
This position will be located at our facility in Feldkirchen-Westerham, Bavaria, with work from home days possible as part of a hybrid arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.*
Responsibilities:
- Develop and commercialize textile and laminates, with a starting focus on sustainable Footwear products, working in a cross functional team
- Develop the textiles with understanding of their technology and consistency
- Understand properties, availability and limitations of different membranes and films
- Understand and utilize internal and external manufacturing capabilities
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to create a deep understanding of the product and the processes (manufacturing plant in Putzbrunn)
- Collaborate with external suppliers in partnership with Sourcing and Quality Teams (SQM, Sourcing Manager)
- Develop internal capabilities to assess the environmental footprint of Footwear products using Tools like HIGG MSI
Required Qualifications:
- Master in a technical degree e.g. textile or material engineering
- Sound knowledge in textile making and finishing
- Analytical mindset with solid application of statistical methods
- Ability to drive projects in a cross-functional team to ensure timely completion of laminate development milestones
- Ability to work with external suppliers and partners, building trust and relationships
- Strong communication skills with fluency in German and English
- Willingness to travel (10%)
Desired Qualifications:
- Master Degree in Textile Engineering, with a focus either dyeing and finishing or production (weaving, knitting, nonwoven)
- Remote Working Arrangements are permitted for Associates, with appropriate approval and compliance with Gore’s remote working policies, from the country in which they are employed.
