Mechanical desi engineer 1 in Salzgitter bei Plastic Omnium

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for owning the development of high voltage battery modules from conception through assembly. As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Plastic Omnium you will work in a small team environment to rapidly develop new technologies/design.

• Full product design responsibility, from concept through production launch and ramp-up
• 3D design of large variety of parts and assemblies
• Selecting appropriate components from supplier catalogs of standard parts
• Advancing product performance while driving down cost and mass
• Developing new technologies, supported with early process development
• Relentless improvement of existing products
• Hands-on prototyping
• Specification definition (dimensional, functional, performance, manufacturing)
• Meticulous release of 2D part and assembly drawings
• Owning basic testing and analysis skills; supporting advanced testing and analysis
• Root causing test failures and production problems
• Collaboration with other teams inside PO (manufacturing, testing, supply chain, etc.)

Close, active supplier relationships

• Strong Engineering fundamentals in heat transfer, insulation, mechanics, and electronics
• Desire to own responsibility, share knowledge and work in team
• Demonstrated ability to create products: CAD design to hand on prototyping
• Experience with various manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, thermoforming, welding/brazing, painting, plating, and heat treating.
• Experience in designing for high volume assembly, both manual and automated
• Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data
• A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
• Proficiency in CAD modeling. INVENTOR experience a plus but not mandatory
• Experience with bolted calculation is a plus

Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering
