Description

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) supports our customer’s engineering teams with the evaluation and design-in of analog, mixed signal and power semiconductors for automotive applications. In this role, the candidate will work in a team of FAEs and sales engineers to support key automotive customers based in Europe. These activities include close co-operation with applications, design and marketing groups in Europe, North America and Asia. Your focus will be on power electronics for automotive vehicle electrification applications.

Responsibilities:

Present onsemi solutions to customers.
Recommend the best topologies and products, assisting with evaluation and design-in.
Develop strong technical relationships with the customer’s R&D staff.
Develop an understanding of the customer’s systems and requirements to become an application/subject matter expert.
Assist in the definition and development of new products.
Help trouble-shoot issues in customer applications.

Following appointment, to prepare for the position, an intensive training period (9 to 12 months) will include travel to multiple onsemi sites, mentorship by experienced team members and working with our Applications engineering teams, with sales and business unit organizations, to develop key skills before transitioning to the field based role.

Qualifications

You have a BS or MS in Electronic Engineering with some experience of analog, mixed signal and power semiconductors.
We particularly value your knowledge in any of the following areas: power modules, IGBT and MOSFET switches, SiC and GaN technologies, gate drivers, motor control and load switching.
You have strong presentation and writing skills as well as excellent communications skills; with the ability to ask questions appropriately and gather key information.
You are open to develop knowledge in new applications, products and technology areas.
You consider yourself a self-starter and team player, with a high degree of initiative.
You are able to prioritize a dynamic list of multiple tasks, to plan ahead and to work independently with minimal supervision after the training period on assigned customers.
You pay attention to detail and take pride and ownership in supporting the development of high quality products providing key customer inputs.
You are enthusiastic and flexible to travel.
You have excellent English and German language skills.
