The Faculty of Education is one of the largest faculties at Bielefeld University; its profile and structure are essentially characterized by the interplay of subject and educational science. Approximately 5,500 students study in the various programs of the faculty. Approximately 200 employees (including 22 professors) work in research, teaching and administration. This makes the faculty one of the largest faculties of educational science in Germany. It is home to twelve research groups and a total of six scientific institutions that are internationally networked.
The position is embedded in a research team that focuses on socialisation practices in educational institutions and the family, and explores the impacts of social inequalities in (early) childhood and adolescence on young people’s educational opportunities and success, subjective well-being, belongingness and participation in society. The research is situated at the intersection of childhood and youth studies, the sociology of education and the family.
Your Tasks
Your main area of activity is research-related collaboration within the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (ZKJF), a self-organized working, discussion, and publication forum for exchange and promotion of interdisciplinary childhood and youth, research at Bielefeld University.
Administrative related tasks (45 %):
- involvement in the academic self-administration and cooperation witihin the management
Scientific research tasks (30 %):
- collaboration on research projects with our team on topics such as social inequality, migration, gender relations, and intergenerational relationships with regard to education and
training - independent research
- scientific participation in internationally visible research related to the ZKJF
- scientific involvement in publications and presentations at conferences in Germany and abroad
Teaching tasks (25 %):
- teaching activities in the field of general educational science(2 LVS)

Your Profile
We expect
- completed university studies or advanced or completed scientific university studies. in educational sciences, sociology, social policy, social work or a related field
- strong skills in empirical research methods
- excellent writing and speaking skills in German
- very good writing and speaking skills in English

Preferred experience and skills
- doctoral degree in educational or social sciences
