About the Role
We are currently searching for an Electrical Development Engineer who will work closely with the current Development Engineers for Valve Control Units to execute the new product development (NPD) projects for Process Valves and Valve Control Units and related product variants for applications in the Food and Beverage Industry to achieve our growth targets.
About Your Responsibilities
- Clarification of detail requirements and creating requirement specifications for hardware and software for electronic modules for Valve Control Units for interfacing with the process PLC system communications.
- Development of hardware and software in close collaboration with external development partners and the manufacturer.
- PCB hardware design, with CAD layout system (Eagle, etc.)
- Software design, based on C/C++ for µ-controllers.
- Application and implementation of industrial communication protocols (AS-Interface, IO-Link, Direct Connect, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, ProfiNet).
- Creating verification test plans and executing the tests on functional samples and final parts.
- Creation of the configuration firmware.
- Support to the series manufacturer during start-up.
- Development of PC-Interface programs (Toolbox) for the configuration of valve control units.
- Development of PC based test devices.
- Requirement spec´s for test systems, cooperation with partners for industrial test systems
- Selection of condition monitoring sensors electronic components.
- Development and service of PLC application software, Siemens/Allen Bradley
- Support international key customers, which are leading food manufacturing companies remotely and by onsite factory visits.
- Working closely together with the mechanical valve R&D team.
- Participate in the Stage Gate NPD process including concept generation, detail design, verification of the product characteristics and creating the necessary documentation.
- Initiate and drive own NPD development projects with all necessary tools (including organization, communication, and project presentation).
- Support of SPX Manufacturing Sites, also with on-site visits.
What Do You Need
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in a product Design & Development role involving electronic modules for control of mechanical devices:
- with CAD layout system (Eagle, etc.)
- Knowledge in EMC related design
- Knowledge in signal processing
- Able to work through the NPD product development process in a self-sustained manner.
- Able to work in a globally distributed team organization.
- Experienced and professional with use of design tools.
- Able to work systematically and structured.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong communications and planning skills; including use of MS Office tools.
- Willingness to travel to support development partners, customers, manufacturing sites.
