What to Expect The Culinary Manager is responsible for successfully executing all culinary operations which include; front and back of the house operations, logistics, vendor management, project management and staff recruitment, management and development. In addition, this position will be accountable budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, for all non-production capital expenditures for the culinary department. Strives to continually improve internal customer satisfaction and ensure that standards and procedures are being followed. What You’ll Do
- Develop operational systems, processes and policies to support better management reporting, information flow and coordination between departments
- Develop and manage vendor relationships, which includes sourcing, liaising and providing internal vendor support
- Monitors and analyzes current system of production and works out strategy for improving when necessary
- Interact with managers of different departments and organizations an liaises with other team members to accomplish culinary department projects and events
- Trains, supervises and leads new Tesla and contracted staff, tracking and measuring performance to ensure effective operations within the culinary department Responsible for overseeing Tesla and contracted staff which includes performance monitoring, discipline as needed and makes recommendations for hiring, promoting and terminating staff as required by the operation and based on performance
- Develops and implements sustainable standard operating procedures for the culinary department Develops and oversees projects from the definition of the scope, work plan creation, timelines, internal and external resources needed and allocates labor resources as required.
- Works with multi-dimensional teams including internal and external stakeholders to complete projects
- Manages quality assurance programs to ensure culinary department is up to code, internal and external standards
- Researches new technologies and alternative methods for better efficiency within the day to day operations
- Sets and reviews budgets and manages costs
- Liaise with designers and architects on the creative architectural design plans of the Tesla’s cafeterias
- Has an understanding of basic construction such a plumbing, electrical, mechanical, structural, equipment layout, planning and building code
- Consolidates information from across Tesla into easily digestible forms for team and executive reviews
What You’ll Bring - 10+ years’ high-volume food & beverage experience in related field and/or degree from an accredited university in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major.
- Ability to perform accounting and finance math including calculations of fractions, percentages and/or ratios. Experience with forecasting and budgeting preferred.
- Solid experience working with Microsoft Windows and Office which includes word outlook, processing, spreadsheets and database programs. Must have the ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Food Manager Certification
- Must be customer service oriented, accurate, self-motivated, and be able to use time efficiently
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to direct and motivate staff to provide excellent customer service to our internal and external customers.
- Experience working in time critical and fast-paced product development
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
- Experience working in fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities and demands
- Fluent in English and German, additional foreign language skills would be ideal
