The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) with its 1,100 employees has gained an excellent reputation as an international competence centre for environmental sciences. The working group Biophotovoltaics is hiring a full-time technical assistant (f/m/x) to support an externally funded research project as soon as possible. The project and this position are currently pending final approval of the funding agency. The starting date is expected to be 01.08.2024, or the next possible starting date. The contract will end at the end of the project (30.06.2026).

Your tasks

Technical support to the project team with general microbiology, biology, analytical and/or bioreactor tasks;
Administrative support in general lab management tasks, e.g. ordering of consumables and chemicals, maintaining stocks, waste disposal, organizing machine maintenance or training;
Be part of the technical management group of the MIBITECH department for general lab management tasks, especially in jointly used lab-spaces.

Your profile

Completed vocational training as a technical assistant or similar;
Experience in handling and culturing pure microbial cultures;
At least basic knowledge of bioanalytics;
Excellent open communication, both in English and German (spoken and written);
Reliable and initiative mode of working;
A friendly, flexible, motivated, and proactive person that pays attention to details and enjoys working in a diverse international team.
