Purpose: This position is the Subject Matter Expert on all System of Systems repairs, inspections and the integration for all M109 and M992s assigned to the Army Prepositioned Stocks – Europe fleet. The Subject Matter Expert will perform and/or ensure that each system is precisely calibrated to secure the interoperability of the weapon system. The Subject Matter Expect must have experience in depot level repairs of M109s and M992s, and field and sustainment repair of their equipment components. The individual will also resolve or lead a task team to resolve technical or functional operation or repair issues affecting the application of weapon systems, and heavy suspension systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all malfunctions on the various systems of the M109 and M992 to include but not limited to the Hull, Turret, communications, and possible future upgrades.
- Will prepare records of repairs/inspections/tests and makes them available to the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Departments.
- Verifies the procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials, verifies and certifies the test results on supporting documents and provides clear guidance to adjust deficiencies.
- The Subject Matter Expert maintains crosstalk with Quality Assurance and Logistics Assistance Representatives and provides key insight to management of assets in maintenance and readiness.
- Provides assistance to functional areas as they achieve and sustain International Organization for Standardization 9001 standards.
- Expected to be a quality champion by promoting, teaching, and presenting quality as a means for product improvement and efficiency and in accordance with applicable Army Regulations and Technical Manuals.
- Responsible for the individual training of contract employees as necessary through teaching, coaching, and mentoring philosophy.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation in conjunction with our customer’s guidance, Army Regulations 750-1, 750-8, and associated regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the contractual and corporate compliance of work performed as it relates to quality, must interact with customer and provide glide-path milestones for success.
- Should instill a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet company goals and objectives.
- Will be expected to maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM).
- Performs services on equipment fleet.
- Maintain a daily GCSS-Army Labor Card and ensuring times are accurate.
- Must be able to meet all installation access and security requirements.
Required Baseline Education:
A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR; An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience.
Required Education and Experience:
1. The following experience may be concurrent: Years of recent specialized experience inspecting and/or performing System of Systems maintenance on M109s and M992s must include expertise in diagnostic and troubleshooting malfunctions of all systems pertaining to the M109s and M992 to include:
- Hull system (at least 5 years’ experience)
- Turret system (at least 5 years’ experience)
- Maintain the Diesel Power Plants/Packs on the M109A6 and M992 Tracked
- Vehicles. Detroit Diesel DDEC 8V71T unit. Additional experience with M109A7 Cummins 600hp diesel engine preferred. Allison ATD-XTG-411-4 Transmission. Additional experience with M109A7 L3 HMPT-500 Transmission is preferred. (At least 5 years’ experience).
- Maintained the Main Accumulator Pre-charge Pressure on the M109A6.
- Maintained the Cannon Recoil Systems on the M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
- Maintained the Traversing Systems on the M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
- Maintained the Hydraulic Systems on M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
- Maintained the Sighting and Fire Control Systems on M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
- Maintained the Breech Mechanism and the Operating Cam Assembly on M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
- Maintained the Elevation/Equilibration Systems on the M109A6 Tracked Vehicle
