At Faculty III of the University of Siegen, the interdisciplinary group MOVEN (Assistant professor Dr. Matthias Laschke) conducts research in the field of human-technology interaction with a focus on environmentally relevant behaviors and decisions to promote sustainable lifestyles. The group combines the disciplines of design, technology, psychology, and ethics. In addition to the content-related goals, the qualification of the staff (doctorate) is a structural objective of the project and the university.
This call addresses two different profiles. We are looking for either a research assistant from the field of environmental psychology OR someone from the field of ethics (philosophy of technology). Applications should address only one of the profiles at a time. The particular profile you wish to apply for may be mentioned informally in the application.
Therefore, in the University of Siegen, we are looking for a research assistant working in the MOVEN group to on the following terms:
- 100% = 39,83 hours
- Pay grade 13 TV-L
- Limited to 3 years
- Conception, execution, analysis, interpretation, and publication of independent and innovative research.
- The goal of the research in the junior research group is the completion of one's own doctorate, for which time and resources are explicitly made available.
- Both profiles (environmental psychology as well as ethics) can set their own thematic priorities in the doctoral project, as long as these are related to the topic of technology-mediated behavior change.
Profile Ethics and Philosophy of Technology:
- Very good academic university degree (Master's or comparable) in philosophy, ethics, philosophy of technology, or cognitive science.
- Very good knowledge of philosophical methodology (application of normative theories, conceptual analysis, and classification of arguments)
Profile (Environmental) Psychology:
- Very good academic university degree (Master's or comparable) in environmental psychology, business psychology, or psychology (related to technology).
- Previous experience on the topics of environmentally relevant behaviors and decisions as well as theory-based development and evaluation of intervention measures to promote sustainable consumption is an advantage.
General:
- Previous experience in interdisciplinary work is an advantage
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Previous experience with scientific writing is an advantage, e.g., in the form of publications
- Willingness to perform, ability to work in a team, communicative and organizational skills
- Promotion of own scientific or artistic qualification (e.g., doctorate)
- The opportunity to develop an interesting topic independently
- Collaboration in an interdisciplinary junior research group on the topic of sustainability and transformation in Siegen
- A close cooperation with partners such as Miele KG, Ergosign GmbH and the Verbraucherzentrale NRW
