In this post-COVID world, incorporating virtual care and digital pathways to reach beneficiaries has become essential to the delivery of high quality, patient-centered care. Incorporating telemedicine and task-shifting into traditional care delivery pathways can improve health access, adherence, acceptability and affordability for underserved populations. The Program Director – R&D / Director of Innovation is responsible for the development of innovative new programs that use Intelehealth’s telemedicine platform. In this role you would be responsible for identifying use cases for telemedicine and developing implementation models for using task-shifting, digital health and telemedicine to improve health outcomes for the most pressing public health issues. You will pilot, test, iterate and build these programs at Intelehealth’s R&D innovation sites in rural Nashik, Maharashtra.

As a Program Director at Intelehealth, a typical day might include:
- Innovation, research & development
Develop innovative digital health programs for improving health outcomes for maternal & child health, sexual reproductive health, non-communicable diseases like diabetes & hypertension. - Build novel care delivery pathways through using human-centered design method
- Work with the technology team to build new features into the Intelehealth product to support these innovative programs
- Run studies to assess usability, acceptability, feasibility of digital health products in under resourced settings
- Perform rigorous testing to identify the impact of the these interventions and on the improvement of health access and outcomes for underserved communities
- Use implementation research methodologies to determine the effectiveness of these interventions and improve on the intervention
- Lead the monitoring of progress on mutually agreed results frameworks and performance indicators and timely action/decision and/or provide timely support
- Identify areas that may require improvement and capture best practices/lessons learned
R&D operations
- Collaborate with CEO and technology team to develop clear R&D plans and timelines
- Manage R&D work plans to ensure they are harmonized, implemented along stated timelines
- Lead, coach, hire & train state teams to succesfully run projects and studies on the ground
- Work with the Programs and Technology team to develop new and innovative programs and products
- Ensure compliance of all services according to rules, regulations, processes and procedures and Intelehealth’s accountability framework
- Manage all ethical committee submissions and review processes and ensure ethical conduct of research
- Prepare project budgets and manage the timely allocation of funds
- Monitor and ensure the appropriate utilization of resources
- Oversee procurement and delivery of all products & services required for research & development
- Prepare timely progress reports the CEO, board of directors and other internal stakeholders
Publications & development of knowledge - Actively disseminate findings via reports, peer reviewed publications and conference presentations
- Publish case studies that highlight well-designed telemedicine programs
Fundraising, donor & partner engagement
- Provide technical support in the preparation of donor proposals and in the submission process.
- Build partnerships with local, national and international donors in the region of project operations
- Prepare and review donor reports for quality assurance and compliance with agreed upon accountability frameworks and to ensure that donors are duly informed on a timely basis.

- Minimum 5 years experience in innovation and R&D
- Minimum 2 years experience in public health programs is a must
