In our secondary school about 450 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. The Director of Admissions plays a pivotal role in shaping the vision and systematic approach to admission, recruitment, and the transfer of students at Leipzig International School (LIS), ensuring alignment with the school's mission, vision, and values. This role involves overseeing student admissions, enrolments, and re-enrolments primarily within the secondary school, with a key focus on cultivating a more diverse and inclusive student body. Responsibilities include, conducting open days, school tours, and providing personalised guidance to families regarding the LIS educational program and potential pathways. The Director of Admissions evaluates the abilities and potential of prospective students through an examination of their previous transcripts, references, and the results of pre-assessment tests conducted at LIS. Based on these assessments and pre-consultations, a tailored educational program is formulated. This includes determining the optimal grade level, identifying necessary supporting structures, and assisting with subject choice selection to ensure each student's holistic development—academically, socially, and emotionally. Post-enrollment, the Director of Admissions maintains communication with students and families during the settling in period. Moreover, the Director of Admissions actively contributes to the strategic development of LIS by aligning admissions processes and decisions with the planned growth of the institution.
