Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety regulations.
- Understand and influence human behaviors to reduce workplace risks.
- Competency in risk assessment and determining appropriate control measures.
- Identifying and minimizing Environmental, Health and Safety risks and prioritising and communicating critical tasks, as required, to essential business units.
- Effectively teach others to assess risk, identify hazards, and implement appropriate controls.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Support development and implementation of routine inspections and evaluate compliance with health, safety & environmental legislation.
- Keep up to date on new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and any developments affecting the industry.
- Ability to manage environmental permits.
- Support local teams in their interactions with enforcing authorities and generate any reports which are required on annual safety performance or workplace incidents.
- Act as point of contact with occupational health provider and support creation and monitoring of annual plan.
- Support personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment and other safety equipment.
- Conduct incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training and instruction, toolbox talks and health awareness programs.
- Develop and establish emergency response plans.
Qualifications:
- Qualified to level of Sicherheitstechniker / Safety Technician or prepared to work towards gaining a recognised qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in EH&S.
- Proficient knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in both verbal and written German and English
- Familiarity with data and root cause analysis techniques.
- Detailed and concise communication
- Understanding of incident and injury prevention programs.
- Experience implementing, training, and maintaining safety programs.
- Ability to work varied hours (emergencies, projects) with occasional travel (international & domestic).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
