Your future plans
We are looking for a dedicated team member to support RWE’s Green Growth Strategy. The International Hydrogen Investments team will build up a portfolio of development projects along the green hydrogen derivative value chain with a focus on ammonia & methanol. The team will focus on developing integrated hydrogen derivative export projects with a focus on USA & Australia where RWE can also leverage its strong RES position as well as developing and securing physical access to North-West Europe’s demand via large-scale hydrogen derivative import, storage, cracking facilities and pipelines in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

As Analyst International Hydrogen Investments you will work closely with a team of 5-10 FTEs.

• Research, analyse and track changes in all relevant fundamental market, grid and regulatory drivers for green hydrogen derivatives in relevant regions (US, Australia and North-West Europe)
• Analytical modeling and valuation of potential investment opportunities
• Translate techno-economic parameters of projects into a tangible business case for RWE and prioritize projects that fit RWE’s strategy and deliver value
• Coordinate internal processes with all relevant internal stakeholders such as the relevant Trading Desks, PPA teams, Structuring & Valuation, Legal & Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Finance and Back Office
Develop excellent professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders within the RWE Group

Your powerful skills

• University degree in business, economics, engineering or natural science
• Working experience of 3 years in an analytical role in the energy, chemicals, investments (e.g. private equity), consulting or other relevant industry
• High proficiency in modelling including ability to build economic and valuation models from scratch
• Experience in deriving energy economics, especially in the context of hydrogen and derivatives projects
• Evidence of application of quantitative and qualitative analytical and structured approaches to complex issues
• Commercial mind-set and good understanding in one or more global commodity markets (e.g. LNG, natural gas, chemical commodities, oil products)
• Experience in evaluation of complex commodity and/or equity transactions, including joint venture agreements
• Good understanding of all risks associated in complex transactions (market risk, credit risk, regulatory risks, legal risks, liquidity risk etc.)
• Basic understanding of technical concepts of green hydrogen and derivative (e.g. ammonia) projects
• Ability to communicate the results and implications of complex analysis clearly to senior members of IHI
• Self-starter, ability to prioritise work and work unsupervised with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; fluent English language skills and fluent knowledge of an additional relevant European language is a prerequisite
• Strong team player and enthusiastic about the opportunity to support and shape RWE’s ambitions in the energy transition
