The role of the Field Service Engineer is to offer proficient hands-on technical assistance in all areas of product installation, commissioning, basic customer instruction, maintenance, problem-solving, and customer service on behalf of the company's products. Your primary goal is to deliver highly competent, effective, and focused support solutions to the customer base. This will help achieve maximum customer satisfaction and uphold the professional image of the company. Your role involves working with the Applications Team to install, maintain, service, and provide solution support for our range of instrumentation within the EMEA region. This is a remote role with frequent travel.
Aufgaben/Verantwortlichkeiten:
- Perform preventative maintenance, installations, and equipment upgrades on instruments.
- Collaborate with customers and colleagues to plan site installations.
- Inspect, install, set up, test, and ensure the systems and accessories meet specifications at customer sites. Provide basic operator training.
- Provide time-sensitive corrective maintenance to restore systems to full operation.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to resolve instrumentation problems.
- Manage communication with customers through email and telephone to ensure satisfactory resolution and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate logs, equipment performance data, service records, and parts usage software.
- Effectively communicate customer needs to sales and application specialists.
Qualifikationen:
- Qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, mechatronics, chemistry or biochemistry. Practical experience in the fluorescence microscopy field is preferred.
- Solid technical or scientific background gained in industry or academia.
- 5+ years experience in field service work.
- Strong customer orientation.
- A current driving license.
- No visa restriction preventing travel and work in the USA or EMEA.
- Capacity to take responsibility for the complete installation and commissioning of sophisticated instrumentation and to instruct users in its basic operation.
- Ability to diagnose causes of malfunction and to actively resolve customers’ service problems.
- Good computer literacy, including familiarity with data system hardware and industry standard operating systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with good spoken and written English.
