The challenges facing metal processing worldwide are expressed in the increasing complexity of materials and require continuous improvement of existing metallurgy and technology. The Technology Department has the task of optimizing existing plants, supplying metallurgical concepts for the processing of polymetallic materials (Cu/Pb/S/Zn), preparing projects for the engineering phase and implementing them up to a successfully commissioning. This can only be achieved with a high level of expertise in extraction metallurgy, metallurgical modeling and engineering.
The role - Identifying missing information and determining methodologies to obtain them
- Flowsheet analysis for improvement potentials and investigate them
- Developing design of experiments and planning of lab- and industrial-tests in the field of polymetallic material processing
- Participation in lab- and industrial-test campaigns
- Developing mass and energy balances and draw the conclusions for existing and new processes
- Assuming responsibility for a project team of technicians and engineers
- Project planning, execution and management
- Writing and presenting project-/study-/test-reports
- Commitment to project timelines and milestones
- Validation of metallurgical concepts and process ideas from the laboratory to the pilot scale
Minimum requirements - University master’s degree or technical college degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering or a comparable degree
- Doctoral degree is a plus
- At least two years of industrial experience in metallurgy
- Solid working knowledge of thermochemical programs (FactSage, HSC, MPE)
- Working knowledge for flowsheet simulation (HSC SIM) is desired
- Proficient in project management (planning and realization)
- Very good MS Office skills
- Excellent command of English; strong command of German, to support effective communication
- Enthusiastic on complex metallurgical subjects
- Structured and solution-oriented approach to work in connection with strong analytical abilities
- Resilient, excellent communication skills an team spirit
