Job Overview
Junior Network Administration Support Services are required to provide Information Technology/Information Management (IT/IM) support services to the George C. Marshall Center (GCMC) Systems Support Division (SSD). The mission of the GCMC, as a vital instrument of German-American cooperation, is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships; promoting active, peaceful, whole-of-government approaches to address transnational and regional security challenges; and creating and enhancing enduring partnerships worldwide.Personnel are needed to obtain IT/IM support services in order to successfully execute the mission of the GCMC.
Qualifications
Minimum Certifications / Qualifications:
- IAT II Security+ Certification
- CCNA Wireless Certification (within 30 days of commencement of service)
- 2 years of similar networking experience
- Proficiency using MS EXCEL, MS WORD, and MS POWER POINT software, and familiar with performing database input and update functions.
- Possess Level 4 English language written and oral communication skills.
- Russian and/or German written and oral communication skills (Level 2) favored but not required.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Installs and troubleshoots all Government-approved IT equipment such as desktops, monitors, printers.
- Physically deploys, relocates and/or replaces IT equipment. This may require an individual Contractor to lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrate how to login to the network, save and retrieve files, how to find course materials, and how to effectively use all of the GCMC IT resources available, as required by the Government.
- Provide Tier 2 support for any Network Administrator task for GCMC, to include all sections of SSD such as Networking, Systems, DevOps, Information Assurance, andescalate requests and incidents in accordance with documented SOPs.
- Provide the operation, troubleshooting, restoration, configuration, installation, and security of the Government-provided wireless access points, wireless control systems, and associated devices to maximize uptime at 99% availability or higher during core business hours.
- Conducts site surveys for potential new wireless service locations, make recommendations for proper placement and security of all wireless access points, their configurations, and connectivity and proposes or recommends best practices for their installation and integration to the Government Network Administration Team lead.
- Monitors GCMC Network assets. The Contractor shall track, configure, generate, and interpret location and event notifications as well as recommend alternatives and solutions to the Government Network Administration Team lead.
- Provides support services to assist with GCMC wired or wireless network.
- Installs, operates, and performs cable management. Contractor will perform preventive maintenance checks, services, and unit-level maintenance on CAT-5/6 and fiber communication systems in accordance with industry communications standards.
