Summary/Objective:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Process Engineer is responsible for the process engineering during all stages of design and execution. The job holder will play an active role during various stages of a project life cycle: FEED, Detailed Design, Fabrication, Field Construction, Commissioning, and Start-Up Activities. Responsibilities will include managing the following activities to develop and execute full turnkey capital project solutions.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
. Process & Safety Engineering:
- Provide overall process engineering expertise.
- Lead the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) studies.
- Develop process designs including PFDs, P&IDs, and Heat & Mass Balance.
- Prepare design basis, process description/equipment/specification sheets.
- Design and specific equipment, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Evaluate technical proposals from vendors/suppliers and provide recommendations.
- Identify and manage process controls strategy and implementation.
- Conduct design reviews and implement design improvements.
- Prepare & participate in HAZOP reviews and conduct other safety evaluations.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of the process design.
- Support plant commissioning, including on-site performance tests and troubleshooting.
- Complete root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and lead investigations.
- Interface with multi-engineering disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, control) to provide:
- Piping Isometric Drawings.
- Single Line Diagram
- Plot Plan & Equipment Arrangement Diagram
- Utility Requirements & Process Interfaces
- Block I/O Diagram and Functional Logic Tables
- Other technical documentation, including but not limited to the start-up procedures, test plans, operation manuals and training materials
- Coordinate functional issues involving plant reliability, operability, and maintenance.
- Participate in the Control System designing and staging (SAT, Software Acceptance Test) and field validation.
- Participate in Constructability Reviews, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI).
- Assist with assuring compliance with the local Safety Regulatory Code.
- Develop cost estimates to support project bidding (AACE Class 3 or better).
- Perform economic analysis to optimize the total installed costs.
- Identify and mitigate technical, execution, and operation risks
- Define the scope of work and split of responsibilities
- Support proposal writing and other technical documents
- Provide technical liaison support to customers and/or EPC contractors.
- Contribute to Lessons Learned Reports
Education and Experience:
- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience in the gas and process industry.
- Advanced level in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS , ChemCAD)
- Substantial experience with cryogenic pumps, heat exchangers, turbomachinery, air separation process systems, gas process plants, liquefaction plants, tank farms, and bulk distribution facilities
- Cryogenic experience is highly desired.
- The applicant should possess the aptitude to acquire a balanced multi-discipline understanding of Process Engineering, Process Systems, and Process Safety disciplines.
- The applicant must communicate effectively and seek out technical expertise as required.
- Possess strong analytical and organizational skills
- Able to influence and interact effectively with cross-functional team members.
- Able to juggle several concurrent projects
