About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas. The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
About the Position
The Public Diplomacy Manager is responsible for the development of the Australian Embassy Berlin’s public diplomacy program, including media and social media strategies. This position supervises a small team and works closely with the Ambassador.

A. Demonstrated experience in public relations, communications or marketing, with responsibility for content creation and press liaison.
B. Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and German, with the ability to use these communication skills to build networks with a range of stakeholders.
C. Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and to direct the workflow of a team.
D. Experience organising key high-level events and the ability to represent your organisation.
E. Proven ability to manage stakeholders and establish and maintain a network of relevant contacts.
