is offering with immediate effect a PHD STUDENT (m/f/d) POSITION full- or part-time for 3 years We are looking for a PhD student within a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project is a collaboration between the Universities of Regensburg and Düsseldorf with focus on connectivity-optimized localization of hotspots for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in patients with major depression. The doctoral researcher in Regensburg will develop and apply an algorithm for identifying personalized functional connectivity-guided TMS targets in the prefrontal cortex of patients with depression. The position provides a unique training opportunity in brain imaging and machine learning techniques. By combining these methods, an algorithm will be tested and refined that identifies the optimal hotspot for TMS coil placement in the individual patient. We seek
Candidate with a degree in psychology, medicine, neuroscience, computer science, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, physics or related areas
Programming skills (Python, R or Matlab)
Strong interest in neurobiological research and development of clinical applications
Good English communication and writing skills
Experience with machine learning, neuroimaging analysis, or brain stimulation is a plus
