Legal Traineeship (Rechtsreferendar/in) Government & Regulatory Affairs, Berlin

Microsoft's Government Affairs department in Berlin is regularly looking for legal trainees (“Rechtsreferendare”) in their attorney or elective stages (“Anwalts- / Wahlstation”). Government Affairs is part of Microsoft's Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) department and deals, among other things, with the analysis and processing of legislative and regulatory initiatives at both EU and national level.
About the Legal Traineeship
- We offer either 3- or 6-month internships as part of the legal traineeship or elective station.
- As a legal trainee, you will work closely with colleagues in the Government Affairs team on legal and regulatory issues and gain insights into the legal and regulatory aspects of Microsoft´s government affairs work.
- Microsoft pays appropriate compensation for the work in compliance with the guidelines set by the responsible authorities of federal states.
- An international environment allows you to gain extensive government affairs know-how.
- You support the Government Affairs team with analyses of current legislative processes and regulatory initiatives as well as regulatory authority and court decisions.
- You will prepare memos and presentations on regulatory developments with the aim of explaining complex legal issues in an easily understandable way within the company
- You will support external Government Affairs work by contributing to position papers, presentations, briefings & debriefings of meetings you attend.
- You have successfully completed the first state law examination with above-average results and are currently completing your legal traineeship (“Rechtsreferendariat”) or have been admitted to it.
- You bring a proven professional interest in the field of internet and media law and are specifically interested in working at the intersection of law and political communication.
- You are enthusiastic about technology and capable of analyzing the legal implications of new technological developments, even apart from existing commentary literature.
- You communicate confidently in English, both orally and in writing.
- As a team player, you like to learn every day from and with your team.
- You speak German and English fluently, both verbally and in writing.
- You must be legally authorised to work in Germany to be eligible for this role. (Legally authorised = has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit) for your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work.
