The Chair of Thermodynamics of Mobile Energy Conversion Systems (TME) at RWTH Aachen University, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Pischinger, is located together with the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics (LTT) as the Institute of Thermodynamics within the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
- Subject of study: engineering (mechanical, energy, automotive), physics, or similar
- Interest in numerical simulation and electromobility
- Knowledge in several of the following topics: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, chemical energy conversion
- Experience in at least one of the following softwares: StarCCM+, Matlab/ Simulink, Python, ANSA
- Independent, diligent and structured way of working
Depending on your interest and skills, you will deal with current simulation challenges related to thermal runaway (TR) and propagation (TP) in battery packs. For example, you will work on smaller work packages on the following topics: Vent gas flammability, detailed TR cell model, particle flow, design tool for TP safe modules, and many more. You will support the development of the corresponding models and conduct numerical simulations in 0D, 1D or 3D, as well as their pre- & post-processing. Additionally, you will contribute to ideas on parameterization and validation methods.
The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 3 months.
There is an option to extend the contract.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 10-19 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
