The Role:

A seasoned professional with advanced skills and experience in using Tableau for data visualisation and business intelligence. In addition to the responsibilities of a Tableau Developer, a Senior Tableau Developer often takes on more strategic and leadership-oriented tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Dashboard Development:

Design and develop visually striking and interactive Tableau dashboards.
Utilize a variety of chart types, parameters, and actions to create sophisticated and engaging dashboard experiences.

Data Connections and Integration:

Establish connections to diverse data sources, including databases, cloud services, and spreadsheets.
Integrate and blend data to create comprehensive datasets for in-depth analysis.

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

Apply strong analytical skills to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
Create calculated fields, measures, and dimensions for advanced analysis.

Performance Optimization:

Optimize Tableau dashboards and reports for enhanced performance and responsiveness.
Implement best practices for efficient data extraction and visualisation.

SQL and Data Manipulation:

Write proficient SQL queries to manipulate and transform data for effective use in Tableau.
Conduct data cleaning, filtering, and shaping as required.

Scripting and Calculations:

Utilize scripting languages (such as Python or R) for advanced calculations and data manipulation within Tableau.
Implement Tableau calculations, including level of detail (LOD) expressions.

Automation and Scalability:

Automate routine tasks and processes within the Tableau environment.
Design scalable Tableau solutions capable of handling large datasets and user loads.

Collaboration and Communication:

Effectively communicate with stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical Tableau solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Version Control and Deployment:

Apply version control practices for Tableau workbooks.
Oversee the deployment of Tableau solutions across environments.

Training and Mentorship:

Train and mentor junior Tableau developers or end-users.
Share knowledge effectively and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Advanced Features Utilization:

Implement advanced Tableau features such as parameter actions, set actions, and dynamic parameters.
Leverage geospatial analytics and custom map integration for enhanced visualisation.

Security and Access Control:

Ensure Tableau security features are implemented to control access to data and dashboards.
Implement row-level security and user permissions as required.
