- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment
- 2+ years of experience with hardware architectures and troubleshooting experience
- 2+ years of experience with system management tools and client/server environments
- 2+ years of networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices
- Team, organizational and planning skills, as well as stringent time management skills to balance workloads in a complex and dynamic environment, organization and detail-orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects
- Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product
- Ability to consistently deliver results despite competing priorities and distractions
- Experience with collecting and reporting key performance metrics and/or data modeling to continuously measure and improve operational status quo
At Amazon Web Services (AWS) we are expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take our data center operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, sponsoring projects and proposing technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
- Review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly
- Coordinate change management resources
- Guide, train and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues
- Manage and deliver mid-size projects
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet SLA's
- Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills
- Provide weekly report to the data center manager
- Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations
- Host weekly staff meetings
- Write and deliver performance reviews for staff
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Frankfurt, DEU
- 5+ years of cumulative experience with information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices and IT service delivery principles and best practices
- Experience in managing Data Center co-location providers
- Understanding of critical Electrical, HVAC and control systems
- Technical depth to pass at least one of our Network Engineer, Systems Engineer or Developer Support Engineer skill set
- Appropriate Security and Safety awareness
- Project Management Experience
- Capacity planning and budgetary experience.
- Experience in managing managers
