Postdoc RNA Biology Weed Control (f/d/m)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Discover and evaluate translational control components in target weed species
- Design constructs and conduct experiments in the laboratory to optimize transformation protocols in protoplast and plant cell culture
- Apply bioinformatic methods to identify translational control components of herbicide resistant genes from genomes, transcriptomes and ribosomal profiling in target weed species
- Carry out project tasks independently based on agreed-on priorities and deadlines
- Interpret scientific data with the help of computational tools and use insights for the optimization of experiments
- Keep up to date with literature in relevant fields and present scientific information to internal partners and academic conferences
- Supervise lab technicians in plant tissue culture and genetic engineering
- Assure appropriate management of digital documentation of results and progress
- Ensure high safety standards and company compliant action, taking into account laws, regulations and directives including assessment and evaluation of potential risks of all processes
WHO YOU ARE
- PhD in plant biology or related disciplines with proven expertise in RNA biology
- Experience of translational control mechanisms is a plus
- Knowledge of bioinformatics for genome analysis and translational control component identification is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques including cloning, plasmid design and genetic engineering techniques for functional studies at cellular and whole plant systems; experience with CRISPR/Cas in plant systems is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in plant cell line transformation and maintaining plant cell culture
- Experience with handling and interpretation of large data sets, knowledge of R or python is an advantage
- Ability and willingness to work closely with partners from other disciplines (chemists, computational biologists, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as good interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are an advantage
