The Awards Management Unit (AMU)
Established in January 2016, the Awards Management Unit (AMU) is a global unit responsible for identifying, securing, and managing all funding from statutory/government donors. The unit comprises five teams: Strategic Partnerships, Programme and Grant Support, Compliance and Policy, Programme Development, and Training. The AMU is a bridge between donors and the field, providing expert technical advice to the field while maintaining portfolio-level visibility to ensure consistency and compliance and manage risk. This unit ensures that donor compliance policies and procedures are implemented consistently and supports all staff working across the grants management cycle for all restricted funding from global government sources.
Major Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Portfolio Manager in the management of the GFFO multi-country award portfolio.
- Review of narrative and financial reports, consulting with and ensuring input from relevant staff.
- Support budget realignments and award amendments/modifications, where necessary.
- Support monitoring projects to ensure progress against objectives and compliance with donor guidelines/ MEAL analysis.
- Work closely with the German Donor Focal Points to support the development, monitoring, and documentation of internal processes and strategies (German Development Donors (BMZ, GIZ, KfW) / GFFO)
- Assist Senior Portfolio Manager, ensuring timely information sharing on compliance updates and solving ad-hoc donor compliance queries.
- In collaboration with Senior Portfolio Manager and relevant colleagues from other units, including country office staff, track, and document lessons learned and ensure they are fed into the programme development team and potential amendments.
- Maintain IRC´s award management system for awards in portfolio and associated processes and regularly update trackers and reporting schedules.
- Maintain award files in collaboration with the Program and Award Support team.
- Support in the understanding of policies, guidance, and tools designed to guide collaboration and work with local and international partners, outlined by IRC’s Partnership Excellence for Equality and Results System (PEERS).
- Support in reviewing and processing subgrants or partnership agreements, including due diligence processes, to ensure compliance with IRC internal and external donor requirements.
Your Profile
- Understanding of German and European institutional donors and their requirements; experience working with the Federal Foreign Office is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of humanitarian aid and development programming
- Experience writing, reviewing, and editing narrative and financial reports and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening and verbal and written English.
- Solid organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks, and to learn quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team and manage a varied workload.
- You have German and English language skills at C2 level according to theCommon European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF)
