Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist (f/m/d)
We are looking for a highly motivated Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist (f/m/d) with strong background in
analyzing next generation sequencing (NGS) data. In this Job you will work on a project to identify RNA translational
control mechanisms for target discovery and early drug discovery in an international and interdisciplinary team
comprised of Crop Science and Pharma R&D experts.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- You support the design and analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) experiments to characterize
selected plant and relevant mammalian samples - You develop pipelines for de novo annotation of coding and non-coding RNA in humans and plants
- The discussion of experimental designs and development of computational pipelines for analyzing
ribosome profiling data from human and plant samples are part of your task field - You collaborate closely with wet-lab scientists and data-scientists to ensure high-quality analysis of
generated data - You independently carry out project tasks based on agreed-upon priorities and deadlines
- Moreover, you stay up to date with literature in relevant fields and present scientific information to
internal partners, academic conferences, and through publishing - You are a mentor (f/m/d) for fellow postdocs, scientists, and lab technicians in bioinformatics topics
- Furthermore, you ensure high safety standards and compliance with company regulations, laws, and
directives, including risk assessment and evaluation of all processes
WHO YOU ARE
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or natural sciences with proven expertise in developing
computational tools and algorithms for data analysis - Mandatory experience in analyzing RNA-seq or ribosome profiling data in humans and/or plants
- Experience with managing and interpreting large datasets
- Demonstrated expertise in building analysis pipelines using Python, R, or related tools
- Ability to manage time effectively to deliver analysis output from multiple projects within agreed-upon time frames
- Willingness to work closely with partners from other disciplines (chemists, biologists, etc.) as part of a
team, with good interpersonal and communication skills - Fluent English skills, both written and spoken, complete your profile, German language skills are a plus
The position is funded through the Life Science Collaboration program and is based in Frankfurt or Wuppertal
and offers the opportunity for hybrid work. In addition this is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
