Research Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Your tasks:

• Development of scientific software for research projects in close consultation with researchers
• Advising researchers at Heidelberg University on the development and use of research software and on research data management issues
• Conception and implementation of further training courses on research software topics

Your profile:

• Preferably a doctoral degree, but MSc are also encouraged to apply
• Experience with research software development during university study and/or completion of Master’s / PhD / further academic employment
• Excellent knowledge of at least one programming language relevant to the scientific community, e.g. Python, C/C++, JavaScript
• Preferably a background in one of the following: bioinformatics, life sciences
• Good knowledge of good software development practice: version control, documentation, CI/CD etc.
• Independent, structured way of working
• Ability to work in teams and communicate progress
• Very good knowledge of English

The position is limited to three years and can be divided part-time..
