This is a new role in our dynamic and expanding Communications team. It will oversee all ClientEarth’s communications across Europe, coordinating strategy and delivery.
ClientEarth has a strong record of delivering impact in Europe. Whether it’s challenging the continent’s largest carbon emitting coal plant, forcing stronger regulation to tackle deforestation, or pushing for ambitious new national climate laws, communications always plays a critical part in our success. This role will lead those communications and help shape our programmatic strategies and the way that we approach our legal interventions.
You will help us build our relationships with key players in the external communications environment, including journalists, thought leaders and commentators and use all appropriate channels to produce creative communications that enhance the impact of our priority legal work. A key part of the role will be making sure resource goes to organisational priority projects and subjects where strategic use of communications can deliver impact.
You will lead our Europe Communications Unit, with colleagues in Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, and Warsaw. You will report to the Global Head of Communications, based in London, providing them and other External Affairs leaders with insight and advice on European communications. You will work closely with senior communications colleagues from our Global, North America, Southeast Asia, and Corporate Communications units.

Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Jon Bennett, who is based in London. Jon leads the Global Communications team, which helps our lawyers achieve their aims using the full suite of communications tools. He joined ClientEarth in 2015 as a Communications Manager, supporting the organisation’s high profile litigation work. Before ClientEarth he worked in various third sector communications roles having begun his career as a regional journalist in the UK.
Main Duties
- Lead the Europe Communications Unit on developing communications strategies to enhance the impact of key litigation and advocacy work, managing risk, and seeking opportunities for innovation.
- Lead the unit in devising strategies to influence key institutional and corporate players.

- Working with the Corporate Communications Lead, build the ClientEarth name in key European markets.
- Work with the Global Head of Communications and Director of Communications and Policy to agree media strategy when responding to reputational issues related to our live legal work in Europe.

Salaries
Brussels 5,485 -5,800 Euros per month
Berlin 6,658 - 7,000 Euros per month
Warsaw - 15420 - 18000 Zloty per month
Madrid - 67,200 - 70,000 Euros per annum
