The research group of Professor Anthony Gavalas investigates the role of signaling pathways and cellular metabolism in the late stages of endocrine pancreas development, their application in the conversion of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) into mature pancreatic islet cells (SC-islet cells) and the function of adult pancreas progenitor cells (https://www.digs-bb.de/research/research-groups/anthony-gavalas/).

This full-time position is initially limited to 12 months. A longer-term cooperation is being sought. Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L).
You will be a central person in a collaboration project with several labs in the TU-Dresden campus that investigate the molecular mechanisms implicated in human islet development, maturation, physiology and clinical transplantation. The long-term goal is to develop procedures suitable for diabetes cell therapy. Besides hPSC culture and differentiation the Research Assistant will be involved in the molecular analyses (RT-qPCR and flow cytometry) of differentiated cells as well as functional analyses of SC-islet cells (static and dynamic GSIS assays and Ca2+ imaging).
Your Profile:
- Diploma or M.Sc. degree in Biology or related disciplines
- extensive experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation
- strong molecular and cell biology background
- very good organizational skills
