has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Friedrichshafen. At the cutting edge of reliability and safety methodologies, the RAMS department (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) ensures that all space system products are reliable, available and safe.
RAMS Engineering is a key activity supporting all programs. It is embedded in the Chief Engineering entity. In this role, you will be involved in the full range of space system development from equipment to system of systems level.

Your tasks and responsibilities
As part of the RAMS Engineering Department, you will be carrying out RAMS activities in support of the project system teams within the various Airbus Defence & Space System business units. In particular, you will be involved in the following activities:
Performing all required project RAMS tasks at spacecraft system level, subsystem level or equipment level (unmanned and manned spacecraft).
Interfacing with equipment suppliers: Definition of RAMS requirements in contribution to specifications at equipment level. Following the relevant design development to check the compliance to the defined requirements.
Performing safety assessments space station payloads and representing the project team in safety reviews with the customer.
Performing safety assessments at different product maturity stages (safety phases I, II and III).
Performing safety assessments for operations, remove & repair activities.
Definition of operational controls/constraints.
Establishing reliability, availability and maintainability analyses.
Establishing FMECA, HSIA, fault tree analyses.
Establishing Hazard analyses for spacecraft, equipment/instruments as well as for ground support equipment.
Co-engineering with FDIR architects (failure detection, isolation and recovery).
Supporting the monitoring and control of equipment or subsystems subcontractors for RAMS aspects.
Participation in the transnational harmonization of safety and RAM software tools, methods and processes.
Participation in proposal activities.
Managing the allocated activities, deliveries and budgets in accordance with project and department requirements.
This role may involve travel for business within Europe to Airbus or suppliers’ premises for a short period, and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
Desired skills and qualifications
Degree in electrical, aerospace, mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
Knowledge of Safety & RAM engineering processes, methods and tools.
