The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology seeks to fill the following vacancy at the Institute of Medizintechnik:

student assistant (m/f/d)

The student assistant position is part of the European project “A portable in-field plant PET/MRI technology for the early crop stress detection” at the research campus STIMULATE.

In this project a portable PET/MRI imaging system is designed and built, in order to simultaneously measures the space-time dynamics of metabolism and high-resolution of plant morphology. This allows the extraction of new digital biomarkers correlated with early signs of plant stress before symptoms become obvious and irreversible. In order to meet the technological requirements for in-field plant imaging, and make the PET system portable, a compact, low-power and low-noise readout electronics is required to be designed and placed on Printed Circuit Board (PCB).

Job description:

• Design of PCBs for radiation sensors readout
• Development of PCBs
• Analysis and Testing of the PCB design

• Some experience with PCB development (e.g. Altium)
• Understanding of requirements for high speed digital interfaces/communication
