The Role:
In addition to developing dimensional equipment and strategies, Dimensional Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product life-cycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to take vehicle design changes and new vehicle designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.
What You’ll Do - Support and drive the build quality performance, monitoring the quality indicators to recognize and address dimensional errors and capability issues
- Develop, implement and adjust BIW geometry fixture and processes
- Provide day to day production support on quality concerns and develop and implement short / long term countermeasure to quality problems while maintaining operational efficiency
- Contribute on Design For Manufacture (DFM) reviews of Product, Process and Tooling designs
- Develop and implement strategy and plan to achieve these targets – Quality control plans, Dimensional improvement plans
- Develop GD&T strategy to support Vehicle quality build objectives and drive tooling design
- Analyze data, identify root cause of the issues and apply corrective actions into process
- Interact with outside suppliers and companies as necessary based on project scope
- Work with cross functional team to solve quality problem downstream.
- Responsible for dimensional improvement for in-house process and sub-assembly
- Responsible for dimensional tool development and implementation
What You’ll Bring - B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of statistics to identify critical process parameters
- Analyze and break down dimensional data to identify source of problem
- A clear understanding of part, assembly and system interaction which involves tolerances, variability, and methods of location and measurement
- A solid background in Body in White (BiW) and ideally, experience in metrology and manufacturing engineering
- Strong GD&T knowledge with ability to apply that knowledge in practical work-related situations
- Work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments, coping with rapidly changing information
- Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
- Hands on attitude
- Advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with CATIA, 3D experience is desired, but not required
- Application for this position must be done in English
