DBRS Morningstar’s Global Sovereign Ratings Group seeks a curious and highly motivated analyst with prior sovereign credit analysis experience. The analyst will join a small international team in either Frankfurt or Madrid as a Vice President. The successful candidate will conduct credit analysis and write topical research on a variety of sovereign issuers, Supra-national institutions and Government Related Entities. The role will suit an individual passionate about working collaboratively with colleagues and communicating with public sector debt issuers and relevant government departments and financial institutions, to identify and understand the impact of emerging credit risks.

Responsibilities:

• Assigning, reviewing and monitoring credit ratings. This includes formulating rating opinions and writing interesting and relevant topical research.
• Participating in the development of rating methodologies.
• Developing and maintaining analytical tools and reports for internal and external use.
• Keeping track of institutional, political, geopolitical and economic developments that impact public sector issuers.
• Meeting with issuers, investors and other market participants as required to discuss DBRS Morningstar’s Ratings and research messaging.

Qualifications:

• University degree in accounting, business, economics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8-10 years’ work experience, preferably in sovereign or other public sector credit risk analysis.
• Attention to detail in written and data work.
• Excellent written and oral English language skills.
• Other spoken language proficiency, such as in Italian, French or Spanish.
